October 17th-23rd: This Week’s Sports Action
What an immensely exciting weekend of sport that saw a number of performances, verging on genius, such as that of Britain’s Andy Murray, who wrapped up the Shanghai Masters for his 6th title of the year…he’s getting closer and closer to that No.1 spot, so Novak Djokovic better watch out!
Elsewhere, in the Premier League Bournemouth tore Hull apart in a 6-1 hammering, Man City missed two penalties against Everton which in the end cost them their victory, and Delle Alli rescued Spurs a point at the Hawthorns.
In the first weekend of Champions Cup rugby we saw some sterling performances from a number of sides. However, special shout outs must go out to Glasgow, who destroyed Leicester Tigers at Scotstoun and Saracens, who gave Toulon their first ever home in the Champions Cup! It was a clash of the last two European Champions and produced a titanic encounter but the amazing first half performance of Saracens was enough to clinch the victory.
The beautiful game is the focal point of this week’s sports action…M.N.F. (Monday Night Football) returns with an absolute corker, before we are treated to some more mouth-watering Champions League action on Tuesday and Wednesday. The rugby returns to our screens at the weekend with the 2nd round of the European Champions Cup, followed by another couple of huge Premier League clashes. Oh, and there’s also the small matter of the US Grand Prix…
Phwoar! This is arguably the biggest game in England…the country’s two most decorated teams, Liverpool and Manchester United, go head to head at Anfield on Monday night (Kick off 20:00). It’s probably the first time in a good while that Liverpool enter the fixture as favourites, with the B.F.G. (Jurgen Klopp) instilling in them a massive amount of self-belief. Catch the game live with us!
Champo League Choosedays are back! Two premier league clubs are in action. Leicester and spurs will be keen to get another win under their belt – The Foxes currently have a 100%-win rate in Europe!
Another thronker of a match is on this Wednesday…it’s Man City Vs Barcelona. Pep Guardiola would love nothing more than to scalp the club where he emerged as one of the world’s best players and then managers but we all know how good Barcelona are. When they play football, it’s almost like poetry, with M.S.N. as the 3 authors. This is not to be missed!
More European football action on the cards but this time it’s the understudy competition – Europa League. Britain’s 2nd most decorated European team, Man Utd, are in action, as well as Southampton who are in excellent form.
It’s a Premier League double on Saturday with Bournemouth taking on unbeaten Tottenham in the early kick off, before Tony Pulis’s West Brom attempt to contain Liverpool in this week’s Saturday Night Football. Two title hopefuls against two teams who will be happy just to maintain their Premier League status this season…there could be goals!
Sunday…the day of rest. Not if you’re a football fan! We kick off with Man City Vs Southampton at 13:30 before Man Utd host Chelsea…both teams need a win to revitalise their league title aspirations, so we’re hoping for a very open and attacking game!
We round off the weekend with the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. Lewis Hamilton must win all the remaining races to have any chance of being crowned champion…we just wonder if he’ll be focusing more on snapchat again this week…?
Don’t forget, we have an amazing array of bar food, including Steak Baguettes, burgers and fries…The perfect Half Time snacks!
